Remove Windows 8 Safe Mode from Windows Boot Manager

If you have previously added Windows 8 Safe Mode in Windows boot manager and now you want to remove the Safe Mode from the Windows boot manager.  But it’s not like the previous versions of Windows, where people can enable / disable Safe Mode easily. Windows 8 requires users to manually remove the Safe Mode Boot options through the command prompt. This will show you how to remove Windows 8 Safe Mode from Windows Boot Manager.

Remove Windows 8 Safe Mode from Windows Boot Manager

  1. The first step is run the Elevated Command Prompt by clicking Power User Tasks Menu and click Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the Command Prompt window, type bcdedit /enum /v and press Enter, see the results in the following picture.

  3. Look at the Windows Boot Loader section in the picture above and look for the description that has Windows 8 Safe Mode listed. Make a note or copied of its identifier number, ex: {203ca718-e98b-11e0-842d-080027916f7d}
  4. Still on your Command Prompt type the following command:
    bcdedit /delete {identifier number}
    For example: I would type this command like this:
    bcdedit /delete {203ca718-e98b-11e0-842d-080027916f7d}
    disable safe mode windows-8
  5. Close the command prompt. Restart your computer to apply the changes. When Windows boots, you will see that Windows 8 Safe Mode has been removed.

That’s how to remove the Safe Mode from the Windows boot manager. For the other way, you can also turn off Safe Mode by unchecking the Safe boot check box for the Windows 8 Safe Mode option in msconfig.exe.
